SupplySide Global 2025: Nexira shows GLP-1, skin health & cognitive support solutions
Key takeaways
- Nexira presented Carolean, a natural GLP-1 stimulator for appetite control, plus acacia-based prebiotic fibers to support gut health.
- Oli-Ola olive extract boosts skin hydration, elasticity, and lightens dark spots through its antioxidant properties.
- Cognivia combines sage extracts to naturally enhance memory, focus, and concentration.
Nexira, a global leader in natural ingredients and botanical extracts, targeted three major nutrition trends at this year’s SupplySide Global: weight management, beauty-from-within, and cognitive support.
Food Ingredients First sat down with Leslie Lannebere, global marketing manager for health at Nexira, at the trade show in Las Vegas, US, which concluded yesterday. Lannebere discussed the company’s GLP-1 solutions, including a patent-pending ingredient for appetite control.
Nexira also showcased a plant-based ingredient, specifically designed to improve overall attention, memory, and concentration.
Natural GLP-1 support
GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) is a hormone naturally produced in the gut that plays a key role in regulating blood sugar, appetite, and digestion. Demand for drugs that mimic GLP-1 — called GLP-1 receptor agonists — has surged amid widespread obesity and metabolic health concerns.
Nexira’s GLP-1 Collection supports natural, healthy weight management and alleviates discomfort associated with GLP-1 drug use.
The Collection includes Carolean, a natural and synergistic complex of carob and nopal.
“This patent-pending ingredient significantly slows gastric emptying, naturally stimulates GLP-1 secretion, and has shown a significant reduction in food intake, making it an effective solution for appetite control,” says Lannebere.
Nexira also offers a line of acacia-based prebiotic fibers, including Inavea and Fibregum, which are known for their “excellent tolerance, versatility, and the ability to help ease gastrointestinal discomfort.”
“Whether optimized for high solubility in stick packs or formulated into synergistic blends, these fibers seamlessly support gut health and are available in organic and carbon-neutral grades,” says Lannebere.
“As studies have shown, there’s a huge amount of GLP-1 drug users suffering from constipation or diarrhea. Our range of acacia prebiotic fiber shows an ability to alleviate constipation in people on a GLP-1 program.”
Nexira’s range also supports consumers in avoiding weight gain rebound after GLP-1 programs by targeting fat binding, detox, and enzyme inhibition.
Beauty-from-within boosters
The France-based innovator showcased beauty-from-within solutions, including Oli-Ola — a natural olive extract standardized in polyphenols, which demonstrates strong antioxidant and anti-aging effects.
“Oli-Ola is grown in the Mediterranean basin. It was designed initially for its cardiovascular benefit, but from the studies we ran, we discovered that it had a great potential for beauty because of its antioxidant power,” says Lannebere.
“It has shown interesting results in dark spot lightening, which is the true age revealer because you cannot hide them. Clinical studies have shown that Oli-Ola lightens the dark spots from within.”
“Another clinical study has shown that Oli-Ola also provides improvements in skin hydration and elasticity, supporting overall skin health.”
Cognitive support solutions
Nexira also promoted its cognitive support products in Las Vegas, including Cognivia, which combines garden sage leaf extract and encapsulated Spanish sage essential oil.
“Cognivia is a non-stimulant, vegetal nootropic with synergistic efficacy, specifically designed to improve overall attention, memory, and concentration,” says Lannebere.
“It is designed for overall cognitive health, but it can alleviate ‘brain fog’ for people experiencing menopause, students, e-gamers, and business executives, and can be used across multiple formats.”
“On top of that, it is backed by robust science: pre-clinical trials and two clinical studies.”
Nexira celebrates 130 years of ingredient innovation this year.
